How are customers billed for DIRECTV programming?

How many channels do I get with DIRECTV?
With DIRECTV, you have access to 43 English video channels. Select from 16 premium movie channels, get access to 10 Pay-Per-View channels, and choose from 36 commercial-free digital audio channels. All in the best possible viewing quality, and all at a terrific value.
Are specialty sports channels offered?
Sports fans can enjoy exclusive seasonal sports packages, including the exclusive NFL SUNDAY TICKET, MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL and FIFA subscriptions. As events are added you will be advised.
Would I be able to view local channels if I have DIRECTV installed?
Local programming is not currently available on DIRECTV. However, with the installation of a Local Roof-top Antenna, you would be able to access local channels. If you are already able to access local TV channels having DIRECTV will not hamper this.
Where do you install the DIRECTV dish?
To receive DIRECTV programming your home needs a clear view of the western sky, unblocked by trees or buildings. After that, our professional installers mount the DIRECTV dish in the most appropriate location for your home, apartment, condominium or townhouse.
What will I get with standard professional installation?
You'll receive a service call from a highly trained installer, installation of a dish on your roof, balcony or other location, running up to 100 ft. of cable, drilling through one wall, connecting your DIRECTV receiver to your TV and VCR or DVD player, a remote control and access card, a demonstration about your system and activation of your service.
Can I bring a DIRECTV box in from the USA?
No. The signal we receive is not the same as the one that is transmitted throughout the USA. Therefore a box from the USA may not work in the Caribbean region.
Why do I have to hook up the receiver to a telephone line?
Having the receiver hooked up to a telephone line allows DIRECTV to obtain your account information for your billing cycle. This connection sends information from the receiver to our computer system automatically. Through a short telephone call that originates from DIRECTV, your account information is retrieved. This connection ensures that Pay-Per-View access continues to be available. In the absence of a telephone line, you can call our Customer Care Department to place your orders (435-7362).
Can I use the existing wiring in my house with my DIRECTV System?
It is recommended that the wiring supplied by DIRECTV be used.
Can I view different channels in different rooms?
Yes. Each TV can have its own programming, and each can be viewed independently. So every TV can show a different channel at the same time. You only add a nominal monthly fee for separate programming on the second and third receiver.
Can I get DIRECTV if I live in an apartment or condominium?
DIRECTV will arrange for a site survey to be done at the desired location. Many apartment and condominium residents have the dish installed on a private patio or balcony - a clear view to the western sky is required. DIRECTV will require approval from the manager of your apartment, condominium or townhouse prior to setup. If you are renting where you live, you will need authorization from your landlord before the dish is installed.
Will I get good reception with DIRECTV?
Yes. DIRECTV delivers a crystal clear, digital-quality signal. Our state-of-the-art reception is extremely reliable, day and night. On very rare occasions in some regions, severe weather conditions may temporarily interrupt the signal. This phenomenon is known as "rain fade." Globally satellite communication systems may be affected by this phenomenon. The signal always returns as clear and crisp as ever.
How do I order Pay-Per-View, special events, or other programming services from DIRECTV?
DIRECTV allows you to purchase special programming by simply using your remote control. Movies can be purchased up to the first 30 minutes of the movie. Make your selection using the Programming Guide on the screen and follow the ordering instructions. DIRECTV's interactive features allow you to follow the instructions on screen to successfully order your programmes. If the message on your screen says "Call ext. 732" it may mean that your receiver is not connected to a telephone line or that this purchase exceeds your card limit. In these instances you will need to call our Customer Care Department (435-7362). Please be advised that ADSL customers will not be able to access Pay-Per-View using the remote control. This is due to the fact that a direct phone line is required to connect to DIRECTV. ADSL sharing is not supported. Customers also have the option of ordering ahead of time and placing their orders for specific shows.
How to cancel a Pay-Per-View purchase?
Pay-Per-View purchases can be cancelled up to the first 4 minutes of the programme. Go into the "Purchases" menu and follow the on screen instructions. DIRECTV's interactive features allow you to follow the instructions on screen to successfully cancel your order.
Are there Parental Control features?
Yes. With DIRECTV you control the programming your children can view. Through a personal identification code (PIN) that you choose you can restrict access to programming, thus blocking the reception of certain programmes. This feature allows parents to decide, with a high level of control, the programming their children can view.
